A Love Letter to Maine
Fresh coastal air easily inhaled while meandering through lilac-lined streets. This New England fragrance a memorable one, immediately transporting me to decades past. Each turn of a corner a new picturesque painting, a new mind-captured memory. Its essence, its charm, its unexplainable warmth of heart; unlike any coastal town I’ve journeyed. Camden the beautiful, with your soft eyes and wide grin. Evoking home, community and contentment. Pointy white church steeples poke out above the mountainous landscape with Mount Battie as her anchor. The early morning fog slowly rolls down her back and into the harbor below. It greets the morning deckhands, lobstermen, and schooners as it slowly fades further to sea.
The fog descends and a new day begins. This sleepy coastal town awakens and becomes abundant with people. Local radio plays Morrisette and Petty like it were the 90’s. The music, too, adding to the sweetness of my nostalgia. That fresh catch smell lingers throughout but soon becomes a familiar friend. My favorite two-clawed creatures arriving in bounds from the sea, imprisoned by the traps they’ve fallen victim to. Main Street bounteous with charming vendors selling local wares, the smell of wild blueberries trails down the sidewalk giving a sweet hello whilst tempting the townspeople.
If seeking a new adventure, an indelible memory Camden provides. This charming coastal town analogous to storybook writings, a seaside painting by Monet or tattered love letter from centuries past. She is full of stories, both old and new, and those soon to be written by none other than…you.
Maine, I heart you. XO
